The jury selected the Miguel Zenón Quartet from the seven finalists of the Board of Trustees.
Manfred Bründl is the initiator and artistic director of the world's first transcultural
Jazz prize, the ACHAVA Jazz Award, which took place for the first time in September 2017 in the Erfurt heating plant

International Jazz Workshop 2018
This year's international jazz mile workshop, of which Manfred Bründl has been the artistic director for 19 years, will take place from November 21-23, 2018 with Zach Danziger (dr), Owen Biddle (b) and Oli Rockberger (keys) in cooperation with the Lichthauskino Weimar instead.
The Jazz Workshop is a cooperation project between the Institute for New Music and Jazz at the FRANZ LISZT Weimar University of Music with the Thuringia Jazz Mile and the Weimar Cultural Directorate, funded by the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen-Thüringen.
